An exploration and new direction for CareFusion software.
New design guidelines in four weeks.
EVOLVED WITH A PURPOSE
Our goal was not to completely reinvent the design, but to evolve it with a purpose.
We created the foundations for a new design language that would improve the whole product line through refreshed and modernized visualizations and principles.
The design guidelines were created across three platforms, desktop (CQI Event Reporting), mobile (PAA Mobile), and device (Infusion Pump Embedded). This provided examples for future improvements on any of the customer's products.
We created the attributes and principles to guide the new designs across all of the user touch points.
We made mood boards to highlight the proposed styles and help visualize the concepts for product improvement.
We made the products more legible and easier to understand with clearer type and stronger information hierarchy.
We unified the products through the creation of a strong icon family that could be used globally across the product suite, at different scales.
We chose colors that made the visual information clearer, more approachable, and less alarming.
We created a UI that was more intuitive across platforms, and efficient to build.
We outlined clearer actionable areas, without extra elements, for better usability.
We improved the interaction model with larger target areas and clearer selection states for better accuracy.
We better utilized screen layout and and optimized performance by focusing on the task at hand.
We created responsive layouts to improve the mobile and touch-screen experiences.
Our short project created an immediate and long-term impact.
We created a vision for a unified product platform that laid the groundwork for the design language and system in use today.
The new designs also provided benefits to the business by creating industry buzz and helping CareFusion maintain their position as an industry leader.
